Personal Statement

My passion for field hockey began when I first started playing in the 7th grade. I fell in love with the challenges and rigor the sport provided me. I started out playing for my county's parks and recreation league in the 7th and 8th grade. When I moved on to my freshman year of high school I played as the starting goalie for my JV team. Playing with my high school teammates pushed me to improve myself on and off the field. My coach always says that improving yourself personally as a player improves the team as a whole, which is why I strive to take my efforts to the college level. Despite covid hindering many playing opportunities for me, I've spent the past three years and practicing and challenging myself with travel teams and practicing on the weekends with my coaches. I strive to take my skills, mentality, and physicality to higher levels as I move throughout my high school career. When I look towards my future in college, I dream of discovering new aspects of life that I've never experienced before. i believe that everything, no matter how small it may seem, has it's own story. You just have to get your hands a little dirty to find out what that story might be. That's the kind of college experience that I want. I want to forge my own story with my school, teammates, and memories along the way. One of my biggest passions is writing for my school's newspaper, which is why I wish to major in journalism. I am interested in a college program where I can increase my experience and challenges as an athlete as well as a student. My willingness as a team player and strong will to succeed would make me an excellent fit for your team!
