I am very excited to have made the varsity softball team as a freshman. My high school has a strong softball program and won the Maryland state championship last year. Making varsity this year is a huge accomplishment for me because my freshman year did not start out well. I was not feeling well and had to miss several days of school. I needed to have medical testing done that caused me to miss more school. Despite all of this, during this time I was able to keep my grades up and play JV field hockey. Luckily I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy and not a more serious condition.
I think this experience has taught me to be strong and to work through adversity. I believe this inner strength will help me to have a successful academic and athletic career in both high school and college. I have wanted to play college level softball since I was 10 years old and began watching the College World Series with my dad. I believe the lessons I have learned this year both as a student and an athlete will make me an asset to your team.
