Stephen Christenson '18 Recruiting Profile

Golf has been my dream and goal since I was very young and have now been playing competitively for the past 5 years. My second goal is to be educated in business management in hopes to, one day, combine both golf and the business of golf as a career.

I maintain a highly regimented routine during Alberta’s golf season months. I am up at 6:00 a.m., every day and off to the club to practice, workout and improve my game. I meet with my coach regularly to go over what can be improved upon and how to improve them. I am a member of the Derrick Golf & Country Club and play on the Junior Golf Team, the Alberta Golf Team and the Harry Ainlay Senior High School Golf Team. I have played in many large tournaments, some of which are: High School Provincials (3^rd), McLennan Ross Tour - Trestle Creek (1^st) and MJT International (17^th); ending the season with a 0.8 handicap. I have also been awarded with the Major Athletic Award from Harry Ainlay High School.

My family has many self-employed people or business owners and this has inspired me to pursue a Business Degree. I am interested in learning how businesses operate and hope to have one of my own, particularly, a golf related business. My work experience has been mainly within my family’s businesses in assisting with demolition, painting, cleaning and organizing the renovations of rental and flip properties.

I attend Holy Spirit Lutheran Church where I took part in my congregation’s program of confirmation and completed same when I was 14 years old. I also volunteer with my church and with other community services, one of which is the Mustard Seed where we prepare and serve meals to the homeless. I enjoy volunteering and trying to make a difference in someone’s life.

I am self-motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to advancing my golf career along with my business education. I will be graduating from high school in June, 2018 and hope to join your college golf team this fall.
