Growing up around a family that practically worships golf, it was no surprise that I too would have a club in my hand. I was just five years old when my uncle gave me my first set of clubs. As soon as I took my first swing, my father could see that I had a natural swing. Growing up, my dad took me to Cazenovia Golf Course, a simple golf course that I have grown up on. The summer of COVID-19 is really when my golf career started to pick up. My father and I went weekly to Cazenovia and I gradually improved.
I made the golf team at high school tryouts and my coach nominated me as a captain. That year, I made the All-Catholics tournament, but unfortunately I did not make the cut. After another failure to make cuts for All-Catholics, I truly realized how much work I have to put in to make it the following year. I use my golf simulator to get better everyday throughout the winter. Along with practicing everyday, I make sure that I keep my grades up, because I know that academics come first. I am confident that I would be a great leader at a college level. I do not believe skill is the only thing that wins tournaments and championships, but also leadership has a large contributing factor to victories.
