My name is Quinn Boyle, I am a 2005 born forward and Captain for the Whitby Wildcats U18 AAA team. I have fallen in love with the game of hockey from a very young age. On December 9th of 2021 my Dad passed away from a heart attack. He was everything to me and my Mom & sister. He was not only my best friend but he was my biggest influence. He was the main reason I got into hockey as a little kid, and the reason I have made it to the levels I have so far, and it was both his and my dream to be able to hear my name called on draft day. Whether it was building backyard rinks for me every year since I was 4 years old, getting a side job to help pay for my hockey training/workouts, putting me in 3 Zones and Kinetix Hockey for camps and private sessions, or making all of the long drives for my road games, he always made sacrifices to give me every opportunity possible to improve my game. He always believed in me, telling me that I had what it takes to succeed even when I doubted myself. He pushed me to be the best version of myself on and off the ice and did everything he could to make me successful and I am forever grateful for it.
I have been attending the Academy for Student Athletic Development (ASAD) since grade 10 for my schooling. I am a part of the hockey stream there where they provide on-ice sessions along with workouts. I am also a member at Josh Fontana’s Pure Strength Academy where I have been going to workout outside of school for a year now. My Dad was also a long time teacher and Vice Principal, so while always encouraging my hockey development he also stressed the importance of my academic success just as much. I received an Honor Roll Certificate for academic excellence at the end of the last school year at J Clarke Richardson.
This year for the Wildcats I am top two on my team in points and I finished among the top 20 scorers in the ETA in the regular season, averaging just under a point per game (26gp 23p). I am a reliable two-way centerman who can play the wing if needed. I play on both the power play and penalty kill for my team. I am currently 5’11” and weigh 160lbs. I asked my current coach how he would describe my game and he said “Right shot forward who is able to play in both the offensive and defensive zone, along with his elite ability to read the game and will do anything to help his team win”. Before Whitby I played AAA with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. My Dad and I thought it best to make the switch to play my major midget season with Whitby. I hope to bring my game to the next level as we head into the ETA playoffs with hopes of making it to the OMHA Championship. Over this past summer I played in many tournaments but one notable one was the Adidas Hockey Super Showcase where I led my team to a championship win with 7 points in 5 games.
It has always been a dream of both his and mine to be able to play Division 1 Hockey. I know when I do get to sign my scholarship he will be looking down on me with a big smile and be able to say he’s proud of me.
