I think one of the things that sets me a part from other kids my age is that I am always smiling and I rarely get mad; things sort of roll off my back. I take critique well and I understand that it is meant to help me improve my performance. I have been involved in team sports since I could walk. I went to Soccer Tots when I was one year old!
I became interested in lacrosse when my old soccer coach asked me to come down and try out as a lacrosse goalie. I had played goalie in soccer and catcher in baseball, so he knew some of those skills would transfer well to playing lacrosse goalie. I tried out and was instantly hooked. I loved lacrosse from day one.
I have learned that goalies tend to feel the burn of loss more so than other positions. This is an obstacle that I’ve had to coach myself through. I know I always do my best and so I have learned to not let losses get to me. I played for a travel team that was not competitive and so, as goalie, I was under constant pressure. I earned the MVP award for that season because of my positive attitude and the leadership skills that I developed that year. I have learned that I am a good team player. I enjoy competition and the social part of team sports.
My academic goals for high school include taking on more challenging courses, to prepare me for college academics and to maintain a 3.7, or better, GPA. In college I want to graduate with a degree in Secondary Education so that I can teach History and hopefully coach Middle or High School lacrosse one day.
