Edilberto Rivas Cruz '23 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I was born I was brought into a very soccer heavy family. With soccer games always being played on the T.V to all of the conversations at the dinner table being mostly about the beautiful game. With all of the love around me for soccer, I became more involved and desire to play myself. When playing my first game at 4 years old scoring 5 goals, I knew I had fallen in love with the game. Eventually throughout many years and loads of tryouts, I was always put down by lots of people, telling me I was not good enough for the team because of my appearance and body style but I let my game speak for itself. I soon became stronger inside as a person with confidence and had developed the mindset of proving everyone wrong. With this I started to create goals for myself with playing at the collegiate level being at the top of my list. I will bring leadership and a hardworking mindset that I have learned from being a captain for many teams over the years. Also I will bring versatility by using my ability to visualize the field and create plays throughout the game that many other players do not see. Lastly, I will bring my ambition to work hard in order to prove everyone wrong and create a strong and fierce team. 

Not only do I have a hardworking mindset on the field but also in the classroom. I take pride in education since it is a major part of being a well rounded student-athlete. I have had high high honor roll recognition every semester since the 6th grade and aspire to continue that achievement all throughout high school. Also, I look to work towards an International Baccalaureate Diploma. My goals are to become the captain of my varsity soccer team and wrestling team.
