I am a junior, class of 2022, at Manhasset High School. Soccer is indubitably my one true passion; I've been playing AS LONG as I can remember! I am infatuated with every little thing about the game. It seems to be one of those things that the more you do it, the more you love it. This leads me to aspire to pursue playing soccer at a university or college with a highly-rated academic program. I will do anything to be part of a team or to help it out.
In the seventh grade, I played football which I believed has helped me to this day with my skills in soccer (I find that certain skills in other sports tend to translate well to soccer, which is why I play other sports). I did very well that year but did not play the following year, mainly due to the fact that the varsity soccer coach asked me to play up with the JV team. I did so and became a starting player and led the team in goals during my time with the JV team. I quickly got pulled up to the varsity team that year, and found that it was a completely different style of play than what I was used to: players were faster, stronger, and more agile. But I quickly adjusted, and played substantial minutes as an eighth-grader, starting in several games.
The following year in ninth grade, I was a starter on the varsity team for the entire season, and was one of only 3 freshman in Nassau County who received an all-conference award, which I found both flattering and humbling. It was a miraculous season and it was the first time Manhasset made playoffs in years. Unfortunately, our team lost to Mepham, who went on to win the Long Island Championship and proceed to states. This year as a sophomore, I was once again a starter, and I managed to score 12 goals in 11 regular-season games. I scored 6 at the center defensive-midfielder position, and 6 at striker. This led me to be the leading goal scorer on my team, in my conference, and one of the leading goal scorers on Long Island. We proceeded to make playoffs once again, and I received the All-County award, which I understand is very difficult for a sophomore. In fact, my coach notified me that there were only 11 all-county players in our conference and the other 10 were seniors. I also received offensive MVP for Manhasset High School Varsity Soccer. I will be a 2-year captain and 5-year varsity player by senior year. I am also captain of my club team, LISC.
I feel that it is essential to give back to my community which is why I do extensive volunteer work such as being an adaptive soccer counselor. I helped teach special needs children how to play soccer throughout the Fall which was an incredible experience. I also have strong academic achievements such as high honor roll, Italian honor society, music honor society, all-county musician, and my artwork was selected to be displayed at a museum. My GPA is currently an weighted 3.9 on a 4.0 scale (4.0 weighted). I strive to never settle for mediocrity, and will do anything and everything possible to improve year after year academically and on the field.
