As part of my collegiate aspirations, I look to be a part of a collegiate soccer team that competes at a high level. This I feel can help better my character as well as develop many important life skills, such as teamwork, personal drive, and teamwork. I have been playing soccer since I was five years old and my love for the sport continues to push me to better my skills and in my development. Ever since I started out playing for my dad’s AYSO core team, The experience of those earlier years has taught me humbleness and camaraderie. Playing in AYSO, and later AYSO United, it brought culture into me about always having fun. Now I have a humble background and opinion of things when playing at a higher level- NPL club, ODP, and at college showcases. These include MidAtlantic Regionals, National Cup, Jefferson Cup, and FC Delco Players Cup. AYSO has given me a better perspective and understanding of people and life, and plan to apply these views to collegiate soccer.
Aspiring to be a student-athlete is also an opportunity to pursue a high-quality education that is necessary to achieve my career goals. I plan on majoring in the biological sciences, as I have a strong passion for science and feel that a science major best suits me. I understand the importance of a future college education and I am ready to put in as much work to balance my education and soccer. Being a student-athlete will teach me how to manage time, staying committed to my studies, and become a more responsible person overall. Also, hopefully learning to become a leader on and off the soccer field; as I continue to grow in my skill level.
I honestly think I can be a good recruit for a team that values teamwork. I understand that soccer is not a one-man sport, its a team sport and you have to work together to achieve goals as a team. You cannot always be worried about yourself, you have to look out for each other and work as a team, and at the same time be open constructive criticism to become a better player. I know from the AYSO core value, that player development never ends, there's is always something to learn. I have high work ethics and won’t give up until I am satisfied with my contribution to the success of the team.
Lastly, what makes me different from other recruits is my creativity and passing ability. I am a very unselfish player on the attacking third of the field. At times, I like to take defenders on one on one and attack the goal. I can also kick with both feet making it difficult for defenders to read. My strongest positions are an outside midfielder or a supporting striker. These positions allow me to use my pace to beat defenders. I also train during the offseason and push myself every day to be the best player I can be. I learned from AYSO honesty, hard work, and team spirit which I can bring to your program.
