Hi, my name is Dade Cox I'm a senior athlete from Plattsburgh, New York. The beginning of my high school sports career wasn’t like most. I began my first Varsity sport in my eighth-grade year. I was a very talented eighth-grader with hopes of being on varsity after seventh grade. My dream was met with hard work and dedication to the sport. My eighth grade year was unlike any other in the way I pushed myself so much throughout the season to be on top but sadly knocked out of the competition by seniors. The following year for indoor track I was so focused on states I didn’t think about anything else but working hard in school and at practice as well as on my own. Within that Indoor season I pushed myself past State Qualifiers and made my dream come true at the state meet where I placed 27th overall for the 300m. That following outdoor season I once again got thrown out of the 100m by seniors but when it came to the 200m at the qualifying meet I shattered my old PR with a time of 23.46 to make my mark once again at states placing 27th once again for the 200m. I took a break to focus on soccer during my sophomore year. I chose to do soccer year-round. I picked track back up my junior year with an amazing indoor season breaking to states for the 300m and leading my 4x400m relay team as the anchor to a section 7 win and a state qualifier win to make my whole team proud.
My soccer career started like any other starting out in Jv my freshman year I wasn’t the best player on the field as I was just starting out with only a few years of soccer behind me but I was the fastest player on the field with a phenomenal first touch on the ball. I was offered to move up to the Varsity team but turned the coach down with the help from my parents because I needed more time to grow as a player. My sophomore year I was moved up to varsity for a few games here and there but still played all the JV games. I was still the fastest and still had my first touch and also had some small skill moves down. Moving into the winter season I decided to take a break from track and field to play year-round soccer. Within that indoor season of soccer I was named one of the best players on the field as well as one of the top scorers with a goal count at the end of the season of 27 goals. I also attended the Syracuse ID Camp where I was able to secure a win for my team during a shoot out. We had a total of 3 wins that day. Moving into my spring season my parents signed me up for a local tournament team that plays in the Albany area. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but after a few wins and a few losses we grew as a team which brings me into the tournament I was in for spring 2020 we played a total of 6 games losing only 1. I had five goals and four assists in the combined tournament play. Our team did so well we were invited to return in the Division 1 tournaments to be played this Fall.
