Sports have been an important part of my life since I was very small. I began competing in triathlons as a 5 year old and still enjoy that sport today. I found soccer as a nine year old and found a passion for being on a team and the strategy of play that just fit my personality. I think that is why I love being a goalie, I can see the field, call out strategic plays to my teammates and know that my contribution to the team is vital. I have been playing as goalkeeper exclusively for the last 4 years. I played at my middle school in seventh and eighth grade and was MVP both years. I played on a Region III team last year for club with Charlotte Soccer Academy (CSA), and we were invited to play in the National League tournament and traveled to Las Vegas. It was amazing to play against some great teams and sharpen my skills. I am looking forward to playing on an ECNL team with CSA this year and playing at the high school level with Lake Norman Charter. Each team has a dedicated goalie coach to help me become the best player possible.
Off the field, I enjoy volunteering at community race events and summer camps for triathlon and history. I really love both history and science, and I am interested in studying either exercise science or biology in the hopes of going on to graduate school to become a physical therapist. I believe that soccer helps me in school, by providing structure to my schedule and the physical activity that keeps the mind engaged. That is an important reason I hope to play soccer in college, as I think it makes me a better overall student and provides excellent leadership skills.
