As a youth, I played soccer and competed in taekwondo, but it was not until I began swimming in the fourth grade that I truly developed a strong passion for a sport. Today, I am not only a dedicated swimmer, but I also have a passion for the sport that extends beyond the pool.
In the pool, I constantly strive to achieve my best--in order to both improve my performance and--more importantly--to help my team. To this extent, I was named a Varsity All-Conference swimmer as a freshman, sophomore and junior and my work ethic has been recognized numerous times throughout both my Club and High School seasons. Most recently, I was selected as a member of the CSL Sportsmanship Team. Still, my most-proud achievement was helping our team place first in our conference--where I recorded one of the top-10 500 meter times in our school's history and was able to cheer on an amazing group of fellow varsity athletes.
Outside the pool, I also volunteer each weekend at a Special Olympics swim program, where I am able to coach a number of amazing athletes, all of whom inspire me with their amazing spirit and determination, and provide me with an incredible amount of joy.
I also am committed to school, and enjoy working in groups and independently to thrive in academics. Here, I am particularly proud of our Varsity Swim Team, which not only achieved the highest cumulative GPA in team history (at more than 3.994/4.0), but has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association for the last three years as one of only 15 Gold Level Scholar teams in the country. Overall, I am fortunate to be with such a great group of coaches and teammates, and am excited to continue my swimming career and to push myself forward in both high school and beyond.
