Personal Statement

Coaches call me "coachable, athletic, team leader".

My teammates say, “Sarah plays with a great mindset against great players.” “What I like about her is her positivity. Sarah is always positive.”

I am reliable, hard working and always enjoy my teammates. I will be Captain of my high school team 2021-22 (voted on by coaches and past three year captains).

I am a good student and balance my school and sports schedule well so that I maintain a high GPA while playing club and high school hockey fall/winter, high school softball in spring, club softball in summer. My desire is to play college hockey while studying engineering or computer science.

2021 Highlights - Invited as one of two 2004 goalies to the USA Hockey Central District Player Development Camp. North Shore Warhawks 16U took the Bronze Medal in the USA Hockey Girls Tier II National Championship. Warhawks 1.43 GAA in 27 games. Scouts (high school) 1.29 GAA in 7 games with .947 save percentage and 161 saves.

In the 2019 GDI Girls Goalie Camp, I received "top athlete recognition".  I was starting second baseman as a freshman on the varsity softball team (no sophomore season) and am starting shortstop and relief pitcher during my varsity junior season. I also play summer travel softball.

Five years ago, I decided to participate in Shutouts for Seizures (SOS) with all of my hockey teams. SOS is a fundraising campaign to spread epilepsy awareness in the hockey community and to raise money for Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE). I encourage families to donate every time the team earns a shutout. I have raised $7,780 for CURE from 2017 to 2021 !

In fifth grade, I received the city wide Character Counts award - voted on by all teachers of my elementary school. While this was when I was 11 years old, I have continued to aspire to the attributes for which I was recognized: trustworthy, responsible, respectful and fair.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
