My name is Reid Tichy and I am a competitive swimmer with the Richmond Hill Aquatic Club in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. I am 16 years old, currently in Grade 11 at Humberview Secondary School in Bolton, Ontario, and graduating in 2021. I am 6’2”, 155 lbs.
My goal is to study and swim at a university where I can compete at both the collegiate and National level while receiving a valued education.
I have qualified for and competed at the Canadian Junior National Championships for 800 freestyle, Eastern Canadian Championships for 400 and 800 freestyle, and numerous Ontario Provincial Championships in multiple events including freestyle, I.M., and backstroke. I am also a ROPSSA and OFSSA High School finalist in 100 and 200 freestyle and received the MVP Award for the Humberview Swim Team. I recently made the challenging decision to change swim clubs after 6 years with the Vaughan Aquatic Club. Under Coach Danailov with Richmond Hill Aquatics, I have more long course and dry land training and have seen time improvements in the first number of meets this season.
Academically, I attend Humberview Secondary School in the French Immersion program where I maintain a 3.6 GPA and consistently rank on the school honor roll. I have been in French Immersion since Grade 1 where I have my classes in both French and English. I am fully fluent in both French and English as a result of my schooling.
I am a certified lifeguard with the National Lifeguard Society and a Level 1 official with Swim Canada. I have been on my highschool cross country team for 2 years and was a member of the rowing team last year. I am also a tutor for Grade 9 students. I enjoy running, surfing, travelling and video games. Competing in a triathlon is a goal of mine for the coming year.
I want to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business while maintaining my high performance as an athlete. In university, I want to challenge myself both academically and athletically.
