Hi my name is Caleb Joseph Petersen. I was born and raised in Fairbanks Alaska, 162 miles south of the Arctic Circle. My parents, my younger brother and I lived in a single room log cabin without running water for the first few years of my life. Once my second younger brother was born, we moved into town and bought a small house with running water. I have grown up hunting, fishing and exploring the Alaska wilderness. At a young age, I was expected to work hard and it has made me strong, resilient and attentive to gear and equipment accountability necessary for survival.
Growing up in Alaska as a student athlete, I take every opportunity to exercise as the climate can be extremely cold and inhospitable during the winter months. In addition to a track and cross country athlete, I am a competitive Nordic skier. I grew up on skis and have competed in state and national level Nordic Cross Country Championships. I earned a spot, in an extremely competitive field, to represented Team Alaska in the Artic Winter Games (2018), and Junior National Nordic Championship (2020 and 2022). I stay active and strong by skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, chopping wood, riding snow machines, and going to the gym everyday as a way to cope with cabin fever.
I have a passion for physical activity and hope to have the opportunity to participate In a collegiate sporting program. I am a naturally coachable athlete and will always strived to better myself in every sport I play. I take nutrition seriously and enjoy preparing healthy meals. I am both very competitive and a good teammate, always encouraging others to try their best and strive to achieve their goals. Whether it’s showing up to class on time or helping classmate with advice, I will always try my best to stay consistent and will put in the work to impress people.
My long term goals are to attend a four year college to continue to gain the experience and resume to be a productive member of society. As a first priority, I will put in the hard work required to improve and excel academically. I will put in the hard work to improve and excel athletically. Most importantly, I will put in the hard work to be a good person and teammate. Thank you for reading my profile and I hope you will consider me in letting me attend Robert Wesleyan universit.
