I have been playing organized basketball since 2nd grade and have been playing on the varsity level since 8th grade. Basketball has been a huge part of my life ever since I was a little girl, learning the skills of the game from my father who coached, and the love of the game from my grandfather who played in high school, college, professionally and later coached. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without basketball. I am a 5'6" guard but on my school team I have had experience playing every position, even those I felt I was not naturally suited for. That experience helped grow my character, learning to trust my coaches and their plan and vision. This year I have taken on a bigger role, being an upperclassman and leading the team as point guard for most of the season. This position is beneficial for both me and my teammates because of how well I see the floor and how well I am able to facilitate the offense. I have a lot of pride in my athletic abilities, playing a total of seven different sports throughout my middle and high school career. I have also been training/lifting weights since middle school. I crave having that team experience and building really close relationships on the teams because each athletic environment is so different.
I also strive to give it my all in the classrooms as well. I have received many achievements and much recognition throughout the years, whether it be honor roll/headmasters list, participating in Student Government, starting social organizations, or receiving awards for my artwork. I like taking classes that will challenge me and help me become a better learner, as well as challenging myself artistically. One of my biggest passions in life is art and I hope that wherever I attend college I will be able to play the sport I love as well as pursue a career in art. I want to be able to build on my dedication in both basketball and art, as well as expand upon my creativity and leadership. I believe that playing basketball at the next level will allow me to do these things.
