My name is Kate Jones. I am a 5'10" left-handed guard on the Greensboro Day School Girls' Varsity basketball team. I was named All-Conference my freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. I received the Davis-Richmond Award my junior year. I also play on the Greensboro Lady Gaters, an AAU team. Being the little sister of two older brothers definitely influenced the way I grew up. There was almost always some kind of competition going on. I learned to be tough, and I learned how to lose, although I never enjoyed the losing part. I began playing basketball in the 3rd grade, and in 5th grade, my rec coach told my parents I was coachable and had real potential. That's when I decided I wanted to work hard and see where basketball could take me. I am open to different types of colleges and would like to explore all of my options. I love the game of basketball - I feel my strengths are defensive play, a strategic basketball IQ and the ability to score at all three levels on the floor. I bring high energy and am motivated by defensive play that naturally brings a productive offense.
