Hello coaches, I am Gigi Nagy. I began playing golf with my Grandpa in middle school when he moved to my town. After learning the basics from him, I fell in love with the game and wanted to pursue it more competitively. I enjoyed competing on my middle school team, and searched out additional tournaments to compete in as I improved and began high school. I frequently compete in Peggy Kirk Bell and Tarheel Youth Golf Association tournaments and enjoy the challenge these tournaments offer. I am constantly trying to improve my game, through my diligence and commitment to success. I take advantage of any additional opportunities for practice and improvement, which I see the results of each time I achieve a lower score.
With my dedication and positivity, I was chosen to be the captain of my high school team. I have learned to uplift and be supportive of my teammates, and encourage them to do their best. As a Freshman, I was given the award of MVP due to my positive influence on my team, improvement throughout the season, and responsiveness to feedback to further improve my game.
Beyond the golf course, I work hard and give my best efforts to my academics. Though I have dyslexia, I have learned strategies to be successful in school. I may have to put in a little more effort than other students, but this has shown me I can overcome challenges and accomplish goals when I put my mind to it. I intend to bring this dedicated outlook to college and apply it to both my studies and athletics. I plan to focus on a major that will allow me to continue working in the golf industry after I graduate. Ultimately, I aspire to play golf at the college level and be successful for myself, my team, and my college.
