Shea Hayes '20 Recruiting Profile

I aspire to be great in anything that I do, and that is exemplified through my competitive nature that benefits my performance and participation in crew. I genuinely enjoy helping others better themselves, especially my teammates. My rowing background has taught me a few essential skills that have assisted me in other aspects of life. I’ve become a more compassionate, driven, and persistent person because of all that I’ve been faced with. My team lost all three of our coaches in a short period of time, and I learned how to push myself and the people around me without the presence of a coach. When two new coaches were hired, they had a rough time transitioning into our program. The experience taught me how to see both sides of a problem and to understand why someone would act the way they did in a certain situation. I’ve been able to take on leadership roles with more confidence, and become a stronger person, both mentally and physically.
