Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Sarah Klienitzke, and I am a Junior at Babylon Jr/Sr high school. I have been playing soccer for 12 years and played on three teams during my career. I played for a club soccer team and a travel team called South Shore Lions FC at a young age. At the age of 13 I got pulled up to Babylon JV soccer. I'm a Varsity starter as a junior playing center defense.  My coaches play me for the whole game during every single game of the season.

I am currently a central defender on my travel team, South Shore Lions FC and have been since I was seven years old. My strengths as a center defender are that I have great communication skills, a leader on and off the field, I take the goal kicks landing at the 60-yard line, I can send the ball from the defensive line to the forwards but also work with my teammates by passing the ball.

During my 2023 season for Babylon High School, we finished with a 5-2-1 record, this led us to first place for Section 11. This resulted in us being named Suffolk County champions. We then continued our path to be Long Island Champions, NYSPHSAA Southeast Regional Champions and lastly becoming a NYSPHSAA State Championship Finalists.

In the same fall season in 2023, I played on the boys' varsity football team as their field goal kicker. I was able to balance both sports and had an amazing experience kicking as I will be participating next year as a senior too.  During the summer of 2023 I worked hard to accomplish this goal and be able to kick a football. The furthest I can kick is from the 30-yard line. Being the only girl was a change, but I gained good team relationships and adapted very well to the change of being on a boy's football team. During our homecoming game I was the first girl to ever score a point for the Boys Varsity Football team in its 93-year history. I went to the practices and games while also doing the same for soccer and balanced school, achieving Principal’s List status.

I want to attend a college with great professors, amazing education choices in a major and one that provides good leadership opportunities to its students. I've been the captain for my travel soccer team for around 3 years now. In 2022 I was the JV captain leading my team, helping my coach and gained leadership experience. I made sure all of the underclassmen felt just as important as the older girls on the team.

Besides playing soccer, I focus a lot on my education. My overall average is a 96 leading me to having a 4.0 GPA. I've been in honors classes since 7th grade and right now I'm taking 12th grade level classes as a junior. I am member of multiple honor societies and I participate in many clubs.

I can be reached by email: [email protected]

Sincerely,
Sarah Klienitzke
