Personal Statement

A Diamond In the Rough

My name is Skylar Williams, I’m a goalkeeper from North Chili, NY.  I attend Churchville-Chili School District, where I played on the Junior Varsity Soccer team my 8th and 9th grade years, before being selected to the US Soccer Development Academy Team in Rochester in 10th grade which I couldn't play HS Soccer.  My Junior year I was the only goalkeeper selected for the Varsity Team where I started in and played in every game.  I finished the year with 8 shutouts on 10 wins.   My Senior year, I was again the starting goalkeeper for the Varsity Team, and again started in and played every minute of every game.  My team finished the year making it to the NYS Section V Semi-finals, we finished the year 7-5-1 and I had 5 shutouts.  I was voted to the Monroe County Division Two First Team All League, as well as voted MVP by my coaches.

I started playing soccer when I was 6 years old.  I have always known I wanted to be a goalkeeper.  For the last 4 years, I have played soccer with Empire United Soccer Club in Rochester, NY.  The first year at Empire, I played on their premier team as the starting goalkeeper, and was a development player on the Development Academy U15 Team.  The year after,  I was selected to play goalkeeper for the U16/17 Empire Development Academy team.  Prior to joining Empire United, I played for the WNY Flash Academy as a starting goalkeeper for 5 years.  I was also a member of the 2003 NYSWYSA ODP State team for 2 years.   As a goalkeeper, I feel like a leader on the field as well as off.  I have high athletic and academic goals for my life.

In Middle School, I was a member of the National Junior Honor Society,  and served as President of the Middle School Bookstore in 8th Grade.  In High School, I am part of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society and continue to volunteer at the Chili Public Library in my spare time.  I also volunteer at Strong  Memorial Hospital by delivering flowers to patients, and wheel patients to discharge.  Also, I am a junior firefighter with the Chili Fire Department where I hold the position of Lieutenant, I work part-time at Subway,  and occasionally referee youth soccer games.

In college, I plan to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.  I plan to continue my education into graduate school and focus on Forensic Science, as I would like to find a career with the FBI working in Forensics.

Please feel to reach out to me by phone or email if you have any questions.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
