My name is Avery Mondoux, and I am a midfielder/forward from Grand Island, NY. I’ve been playing elite-level soccer since I was 8 years old. I made the JV team in 7th grade and led my team in assists. In that same year, I was selected for the NYSWYSA ODP tournament team for the Region I event.
The following two years, I played for the Empire United Development Academy. Being apart of the DA was an amazing experience. Traveling all over the country, playing in big showcases in front of hundreds of college coaches was the time of my life. During my first season of DA, I was asked to go to the Florida showcase with the U15's only being 14 years old at the time. This experience also allowed me to show others what I could do as a player to showcase my ability. I was one of the leading goal scorers for my team in the past two seasons. On several occasions, I was called to play up an age group with the U16s/17s. Playing with older players has taught me a lot about what it takes to be successful at the highest level. In the Fall of 2020, I led my high school team in points and was selected as an All-WNY 1st team forward. Additionally, I was only one of two players from the Section VI Western New York Region to be selected as an All-NY State forward, making the third team.
I am a hardworking student-athlete with a 3.9 GPA and am active in extracurricular activities around the community. I participate in the Art Club at school and love to be creative. I also take place in community events such as the Dick Bessel race for charity. I plan on taking the SAT this academic school year. My goal is to become an NCAA Division I student-athlete for a school that fits my athletic and academic needs.
I believe that my passion for the game coupled with my perseverance and grit during difficult moments sets me apart. I hope to be fortunate enough to continue playing at the college level while becoming a well-rounded student-athlete. Being a great teammate is the most important role that I have on my journey. I am confident that all of the hard work and sacrifice will eventually pay off.
