Personal Statement

As I joined my current club team, Rams F.C, I felt our chemistry as a team wasn’t quite the best. Our first season ended with a record of all losses. Although I wasn’t a captain the first season, I reflected back on that season to see what went wrong and how I could possibly help my team to more victories. As next season came around, my coach announced that I would become another captain based on my leadership skills I possessed. This position as captain made me feel that I could get our team into a new groove of success. We created more bonding times and hangouts for the whole team and parents. This helped tremendously ending our season with more wins and less losses than the previous. As the third year came around, we ended the season undefeated. The result we got made me so proud to be apart of my team. It made me realize that a team needs more than just skill to be successful but needs the chemistry and confidence to be skilled together.

I’ve had some setbacks with injuries through my life. Some doctors in the past told me I might not be able to play soccer again. As a player, no one would want to hear anyone say that especially coming from an expert. At first I thought they were right, until I went to my physical therapist who helped me get back to being physically 100% and mentally stronger. This obstacle in my life realized it takes a lot for something to make me want to give up. I feel my grit and passion for the sport has helped me train to get stronger and faster to go against the best. Even when I feel I’m getting better, I never settle with just better. I’ve learned that I’m never comfortable with what I know, but I want to know more and continue growing as a player. I always want to succeed past my own goals to show there are no limits but most importantly show others they can surpass their own.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
