Personal Statement

My name is Cadence and I've always loved swimming. I started my competitive swimming journey when I was 11 by swimming with my local town team. Soon after, I found my club team (Long Island Aquatic Club), and I've been swimming with them for over 5 years. As a 12 year old catching up to swimmers who had been swimming competitively since they were 5, I needed to set aggressive goals for myself and I have managed to achieve many of these goals (i.e. Eastern Zone cuts) as I continuously work my way up to the top and establish Personal Best times every season. I am dedicated to constantly improving my skill sets in the pool and in the classroom, which requires me to be extremely hard working and disciplined with my time. Through my junior year, I have already taken 6 Advanced Placement classes with a focus on the sciences as I pursue my goal of becoming a doctor.  I also swim on the varsity team for Syosset High School and as a sophomore I swam the breast leg for the team that set a new school record for the 200 medley relay. I know I would be a great candidate for your team because I am a hard worker who takes pride in my accomplishments and encourages my teammates to reach their potential by cheering them on at meets and having friendly competitions in the pool. My goals are to swim at the collegiate level with a competitive program and to become an orthopedic doctor.  In addition to swimming and school, I've also volunteered at STARS physical therapy and joined the Medical Society at Syosset High School to highlight my interest in medicine. In 2020, I was accepted into the Julian Krinsky Medical Camp at the University of Pennsylvania, but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.  In the summer of 2021, I attended the Medicine Intensive program with the National Student Leadership Conference at American University in D.C. where I participated in hands-on clinical and surgical workshops. Overall, I feel my passion, discipline and dedication to swimming will make me a great candidate for our team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
