About Me:
I look forward to pursuing a business or economics undergraduate degree at a strong academic post-secondary school. I take pride in my academics and have a 96% average in my core classes. I am fluent in French and will continue my education in my French Immersion program for my senior year of high school.
While my goal is to continue track in university, I also have a strong background in competitive ice hockey and gymnastics (trampoline and tumbling). My experience in both individual and team sports has given me the best of all worlds! I thrive as an individual athlete and am highly self-motivated, but I also love the team atmosphere of training and the shared experiences of competitions.
Key Stats:
Outdoor: 400m hurdles 103.6, 400m 58.94, 200m 26.04,
Indoor: 300m 42.3, 600m 1:42.2, 60m hurdles 9.69
Background:
I spent 10 years balancing hockey and gymnastics. During the summer of 2020, I was unable to continue with gymnastics to COVID restrictions and had the opportunity to try track. While there was not much training during the peak of COVID, I immediately fell in love with the sport. I had my first meet at age 15 in the spring of 2021 and haven’t looked back! While I continued to play hockey at an elite level, I added track to my schedule over the outdoor season and indoors when I had time off the ice. Balancing both sports was challenging but it allowed me to determine that track is the right path for me.
This spring, I decided to retire my skates and pursue my passion for track exclusively. As a result, I have seen my times continue to improve as I have been able to dedicate time and attention to track. I love training and it is in my nature to push myself, which allowed me to excel and show consistent increases in my speed. I believe that the improvements in my race times over the past year are just beginning and there is much more to come!
Outside of School and Track:
Duke of Edinburgh Award: I am pursuing the Silver designation with the Duke of Edinburgh program (expected completion August 2023). This program has been a great complement to my school and athletics, providing me with exposure to volunteerism and outdoor experiences in addition to working on my third language (Spanish). I successfully completed the Bronze level in 2022.
I have an amazing family that supports me in Calgary, and they are 100% behind my decision to look to the US for my university experience. I have many family members that have lived and worked in the US and I believe that my career path should start there.
