I am an honors student at Tottenville High School in SI, NY. I am a member of the MCJROTC progam, as well as a member of the Photography club. I began running track in the 6th grade, and prior to joining a team I have participated in many fundraising runs since the age of 6. I began at age 11 on the Ocean Breeze Waverunners team, of Ocean Breeze athletic complex. Soon after joining, I became a dominant member of a relay team, qualifying to compete in championships all over NYS. With this team I have qualified to run at the Junior Olympics in both 2018 and 2019. I am a sprinter, my main events being both the 100 and 200 meter races, also running the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays.
In transitioning from my club team to my high school team, I began on the freshman team and quickly worked myself up to compete as one of the only freshman on the junior varsity and varsity teams. Being that I was not presented with the same opportunities to be on a relay team, I began my focus on the 100 and 200 meter races. I competed all of cross country season, running varsity races as well as junior varsity races, but due to Covid-19, my indoor season was cut short. Learning commitment and the purpose of hard work from my previous club team, the pandemic was challenging but was no excuse to stop running. I worked on becoming independent and goal based and although it was challenging being that I had no coach or team to train and grow with, I continued to work and become stronger. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to join my club team as the pandemic slowed down, being that my high school season was cancelled. I competed for the Ocean Breeze Waverunners for a full indoor season, and was given the opportunity to compete at the USATF 2021 Outdoor Association Championships, where I was a finalist in the 100 meter race. I am now grateful to say that I am a 3- time Junior Olympic qualifier, as I competed in the 2021 junior Olympics in Jacksonville Florida.
As I will now transfer back to the Tottenville HS team, I will continue to set goals and work towards them. I am very dedicated to this sport and am excited for all the things I will accomplish through the rest of high school. Something that is very important to me is a strong and dedicated coach that I can work with and will help to teach me every day the importance of becoming a better athlete. I look forward to researching new colleges and finding the best fit for me to be able to embrace the opportunities ahead.
