My name is Harmony Laapui, and I am an OH/middle blocker for the class of 2021. I have been playing volleyball for five years and every year I play I work my hardest to get better and better. My ultimate goal is to play collegiate volleyball and fulfill my dream of majoring in dentistry.
I consider myself to be a versatile player. For my club team,(who in which I have been playing with for 4 years) Arctic Volleyball, I play outside hitter. As for my high school team, I swing constantly between both middle blocker and outside hitter as well as on rare occasion, DS. I feel that it is important to have the ability to play at any position in order to get a better understanding of not only the game, but also your team. I am a strong believer in leading by example, that's why I continue to encourage and give positive feedback to my teammates whether it's for club or school ball. If a mistake is made, rather then dwelling on it and having it effect my game, I shake it off and work even harder to be a better player.
My whole life, I have been involved in sports (volleyball, cross-country running, skiing, soccer, basketball). My parents and I strongly believe that being involved in a sport is more that just athleticism and competition, it's about accountability, determination, hard work, cooperation, and leadership.
