Personal Statement

Aloha Coaches!

My name is Kilinoelehua Helm or “Kili“ for short. I am a junior (class of 2023) at Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Volleyball has been a passion of mine since I was 10 y/o and has become an integral part of my high school life. My career aspiration is to enter the health field: athletic training /kinesiology. To achieve my career goal I must attend college, but as the cost increases, my parents are challenged with affording a post-secondary education for me and my younger brother. As such, I am dedicating myself to becoming a student-athlete and elite, all-around volleyball player to earn academic and athletic scholarships.

Coaches and teammates recognize me for my fun, positive, coachable, and humble attitude. This mindset makes me a strong player on and off the court, collaborating well with others to build positive relationships. I work diligently with my strength and conditioning trainer, coaches, and attend clinics/showcases to improve my skills to become a well-rounded 6 rotation player, and hope to demonstrate this via my NCSA profile.

This Fall 2021, my high school varsity team won the BIIF, Division 1 conference title with an undefeated season (5-0). I was the starting opposite and secondary to the outside.

I am the captain for my club team 'Eleu VBC in Hilo, Hawai'i. We play throughout the 16U-18U divisions. In July 2021, we ('ELEU-BLUES) placed 5th overall at the USA Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. My second recent video captures highlights from the 15 National division pool play and quarter-final matches. I was also honored to be selected for the GJNC 15U National All-Tournament Team (ranked 6th). This 2022 club season we attended the Hawaii Volleyball Combine in February and recently competed in the Salt Lake City Showdown Tournament in Utah finishing with an 8-2 record and a 4th place finish in the 16U American gold-bracket. We are now preparing to return to GJNC in Indianapolis (16 National Division) for the summer.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. Mahalo and stay safe during these times.

Kili Helm (OH/DS)
