I began to play volleyball at a young age because I had grown up watching my older sister club play volleyball and I wanted to play as well. Another influence was my mom who played volleyball in college. I started playing club volleyball at the age of twelve and this has helped me grow to understand all aspects of the game. My collegiate goals are to find the best fit academically, be able to play volleyball competitively, and to have the right surrounding student body. I believe I am a great candidate for your team because I understand how volleyball is a sport of skill, hard work, and dedication. Although all of those attributions are very significant, one of the most important qualities to volleyball is about being a teammate. Volleyball is a team sport and in order to succeed the players need to work collectively. Support is not a trait that can be taught. I have been on a team with excellent skill, but the team could not seem to find a way to work simultaneously. That definitely had a great impact on how well we were able to perform. I have also been on a phenomenal team where we had the skill and the chemistry to flourish. I have been playing club volleyball since I was young. On my twelve’s team we were able to go to nationals in New orleans, Louisiana. I have been on several teams each with different people and settings. I understand what it is like to be a starter, leader, and captain. To take charge on the court comes with great responsibility and pressure. I have also been on teams where I had to work for my spot on the court and it has made me a stronger player. Throughout all my experiences I have learned to understand how it feels to be a starting player and having to support your team on the sideline. This knowledge has given me the power to understand how important each position on the team is. Academically, I am a very determined and driven student. My grades are very important to me and I take being a student seriously. I have been able to learn what study habits work best for me and I have also learned time management skills. My school work and playing volleyball have never interfered with each other because I make sure to balance both in a way where everything gets done.
