God has blessed me with all I need to take me all the way in the career of football. He blessed me first and foremost, with a passion for the sport, for the game. That passion is what inspires my family to support me with all that they have, every step of the way. My passion is what drives me to consistently work on and further my abilities, and strive to be the best I can be. That passion pushes me to be dedicated to my team, my coaches, and my self.
Dedication to me is always showing up, in all aspects of my life, because I know this is what will take me far. I show up for my academics, by striving to stay on honor roll with all A’s and B’s. I show up with my family by making sure they know how much they are loved and that their help and support is appreciated, by helping them in return. I show up in my health and physical fitness by giving my body what it needs and spending more time in the gym, making more gains than anyone else on my team. I show up in practice and in the games, and I know this, not only because of our scores, but because of the feedback from my coaches and teammates.
My coaches tell me I give 110%. In fact, rather than asking me to give more, they ask me to take it down a notch. For instance, I love to tackle…so much so, that my coaches have asked me not to hit the other players so hard. They’ve also acknowledged my ability to easily memorize plays and told me how well I know my assignments and have complimented my execution of the plays.
My teammates have honored me by telling me what a great leader I am, that I’m the best on the team and that they’d loose without me. I’m not sure how true that is as there are several key players and it takes all of us working together, but I’m humbled by their feedback either way. Although, seeing their response to seeing me in action for the first time, is pretty great too. Everyone expects me to be slow because I’m so big and so I love hearing how surprised they are to see that, despite my size, Im actually really fast.
If I had to give feedback on myself, I too would point out my strength and speed. I’d mention that what makes me a great QB is my vision and reading the field, good arm strength, accuracy, and making good decisions with the ball. I’m not careless, I don’t make risky passes, I maintain good ball security, am able to move out of the pocket, I’m mobile, can throw on the run, can run for the first down, and I’m not only a pocket passer but can move out of the pocket and still complete passes. As for my defensive roles, I’m good at
tracking down the ball carrier and seeing through and around the block. Overall, I know the game really well, I have good instincts, and ability to think fast, which all help me to be the best I can be. I feel very blessed that the Lord gave me the athleticism, talent, and intelligence needed to match my passion.
If I’ve not expressed how much I love football through all I’ve said, let me break it down further. Football is my life-so much so, that I feel I’d die without it. I eat, sleep and breathe football. That is why I’ve played at every level I could, from flag, to tackle, then on my middle and high school teams, then college, and finally, the NFL. Each level has prepared me for the next step. Playing DIV 1 football, at the college level, is my next step. I know this because I’ve seen how God has brought it all together so far, and so I know He will continue to provide for me, bless me and guide me through reaching ALL of my football goals! (And I’m holding Him to it, because I promised my mom I’d tell her hi on camera one day)
I thank you in advance for taking the time to view my profile, reaching out, and being a part of making my dream come true!
