Cameron Yuen '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cameron Yuen, and I attend Garden City High School in Garden City, NY. The college I am seeking would have strong academics and promote learning by building close relationships with my professors. I plan to major in computer science and have my own company in the future. Along with a quality education, I want a school where I can compete at a high level. I have been diving on the varsity team since 7th grade and hold both the 6 and 11 dive meet school records. I also received Division Honors and All-County awards each year, competed at the New York State Championship meet, and made finals my freshman year. Outside of school, I’ve competed at many AAU and USA Diving events at the national level over the years.

During this time, I have learned that one dive, good or bad, never defines a competition. With my calm demeanor, I executed all my dives consistently which was the key to my success. I strive to contribute to my team anyway I can. When my swim coach needed assistance with the divers on the boys and girls varsity team, I offered to help. I gave instructions on how to approach and perform their dives, and I provided strategic advice to my coach and the divers. I intend to hone my skills and continue to grow so I can excel both in the classroom and in the pool.
