John Myers '21 Recruiting Profile

 I'm eager to begin my collegiate academic and athletic career. I've proved I'm a competitor in the Eastern Hockey League and I'm confident I can make a successful addition to your team.  I've been playing hockey since I was five years old and have always loved the game. Playing hockey in college has been one of my biggest goals and something I have been working toward for years.  I was Captain of my high school Varsity team for three years where I led by example in my efforts, character and sportsmanship.  Last year I had the opportunity to play Junior hockey for the New York Applecore while I completed my senior year in high school.  I played in every game and worked my way up to a top line player.  I will be playing for the Applecore again this season while taking a few classes at Westchester Community College.  I love the speed of the game and I look forward to the opportunity to play in college.  I consistently try to make myself and others better by not being selfish with the puck and I share with my teammates the things that I can do well.  I'm a two-way player. I am a hard-working forward and I also make sure I do my job on D. Physical play is a big part of my game.  I play the body when necessary, and I recognize when it's better to go for the puck and not the man.  I can play any position I'm needed and will not try to do too much with the puck.  I know my role and I know what I need to do in order to have a chance to win.  I like working with my teammates rather than trying to do too much myself.  I will always be looking to make our team better rather than having a one-man show and I strongly believe that's how individuals on a team succeed.   Thank you for viewing my profile.
