I am a current Sophomore at Garden City High School in New York. I have been playing softball for as long as I can remember. At first, softball was a weekly activity that I did with my older sister and my Dad, who was my first coach. During this time, I learned about the fundamentals of softball and learned to love the game. After playing local softball, I began playing for more competitive teams and against tougher competition. As a pitcher, I learned early about failure and success, whether it be not making the best pitch in a big spot or a ball bouncing the wrong way and a play was not made in the field. That’s what I love the most, the chance to bounce back and try again. I’ve found that I have learned more in defeat than in winning games. As a player, I have learned to work through the tough times. Softball has helped me in the classroom as well. Travel Softball is a significant time commitment (e.g, Training, tournaments) and through my many years of playing, I have learned to manage my time, maintain a balance in the time spent with friends and studying for school.
