My name is Kendall Ficken, and I am passionate about running. I started track and field my freshman year of high school and have loved it ever since. My goal is to run in college, as I love the competitiveness of track and being able to have an outlet where I can work towards a goal and perform to the best of my ability. My drive and motivation to be the best at whatever I do, has kept me coming back for the track and field season each year.
My goals and aspirations are to study economics or finance in college as my major, and minor in music or french, as I have played the violin since I was five and am passionate about France.
I love to lead others in sports, academics, and with the violin. To me, leading is not only about giving people advice and standing up as a captain but also by serving others: bringing them water or helping them with problems they don't understand. I am in all honors classes, in addition to two AP classes in my sophomore year. I have a weighted 4.7 GPA currently, and am very passionate about excelling inside the classroom as well. I have attended chemistry and math competitions at the local colleges around me, in addition to being in the National Honors Junior Society (I plan to apply to National Junior Honors Society next year). I lead my school through admissions: I am a part of the Admissions Committee who shows new students around my school so they can adjust to the new environment. I also volunteer at my church where I play the violin for many of the services.
In addition, I also play the violin and have been playing since I was five. When I was five, I wanted a violin for my birthday and have been pursuing it ever since. I have been apart of my school orchestra since the 5th grade and have attended many orchestras such as the Honors Performance Series where we played at Carnegie Hall, the Western Regionals Orchestra at App State, and in the fall, I will perform at the All-State Orchestra of North Carolina.
